The Mission is a Christian based organisation,

We are an independent Christian Mission that was established by Mike and Kirsten Hughes in conjunction with the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen.

The Declaration of Trust was signed on the 2nd October 1998 between the Trustees of the Lighthouse Seamen's Centre and the Falkland Islands Government

The Stanley Seamen's Mission is affiliated to the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen  in the United Kingdom., which was established in 1881. Her Majesty The Queen being it's patron.

The manager of the centre is Port Missioner for Stanley and, an Auxiliary Superintendent with the RNMDSF.

At present the only Port Missioner with RNMDSF found outside the UK.

The Mission Objectives

1. To establish and maintain a mission presence in ports in the Falkland Islands where seafarers, their families and those connected with the maritime industry can receive spiritual and material help, regardless of race and creed.

2. To provide alms to seafarers, whether or not they are resident or temporarily located in the Falkland Islands and in particular to assist those seafarers who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress as a result of local, national or international disaster or by reason of their social and economic circumstances.

3. To provide recreational facilities for seafarers of all nationalities. 

4. To provide welfare and counselling services to seafarers of all nationalities. 

5. To promote the Christian ethos to seafarers and others through service, example and counsel.
